Celebrating The HBCU! - Live your dream and cherish the memories!

I experienced what you call The Ultimate HBCU Game Day - The Atlanta Football Classic at The GA Dome featuring FAMU and Southern University.  This was an ultimate college game day experience for me.  What I love is the fact that people young and old collectively come together and share team spirit.  They come to the game dressed in their school themed shirts and old Greek shirts from their line experience.  That makes me proud.  If you have never experienced an HBCU event, just take some time and go with a friend.  I'm sure you know someone that attended an HBCU school at some point in their life.  You can't live on this earth without this experience.  It will change your life.  It will give you a feeling of pride.

I also watched UNCF- An Evening with The Stars.  The talent was excellent.  I was inspired hearing the testimonies from the presenters like David Banner - a graduate from Southern University, Lance Gross - a graduate from Howard University and Terrence J - a graduate of North Carolina A&T and more.  Listening to the enthusiasm from the students that were receiving the honors encourages me to continue to mentor to interns and young people that want to live their best life. I am a product of an historically Black College, Clark College now known as Clark Atlanta University.  I did not graduate from Clark at the time. I left early because I got a job in my field of interest, Music.  I was not able at that time to work and go to school and take care of myself on my own.  When I left, I made a promise to myself that I would eventually return and finish school.  It took me a while to get to a point where I could juggle life, family and work.  That commitment paid off.  I pushed through it all and successfully finished at Saint Leo University in 2010 with a 3.16 GPA.  This was the hardest accomplishment that I have ever had to do it life.  During this journey, I was working a full time event driven job at a popular radio station, got married and raised a baby boy.  Whew! What the #@*^ was I thinking?  It paid off for me as a personal commitment.  I pushed through.  With that being said.  You can follow through on any dream or commitment that you determine important to you.  I challenge you to strive for the best for yourself.  Don't wait for someone to give it to you on a silver platter.  If you do, I'm positive you will be waiting.  Take control of you life and get what you want.  Take back your dreams from that sea of procrastination, doom and despair.  I challenge you to live your dreams.  I know you can do it.
