Who are you? How do you represent?

Who are you?  When was the last time you looked at your inner self? How do you want to be represented? Are you your job?  Most often, people think their self-worth comes from what they do on their jobs.  We often think because we are the director, the supervisor, office manager…we think that is how we should live our day to day lives.  If we lose that job, we sometimes have a sense of worthlessness.

Are you your family, your husband or your children? We often lose ourselves in our day to day family obligations.  We sometimes get caught up with taking care of our siblings needs that include money, co-signing on loans, providing transportation, etc.  With our parents we tend to take over their lives and want to tell them what to do and how to live even if they are healthy enough to take care of themselves.  We often take the role of parent.  I’m not saying you should not play an important role in your parent’s lives when they become elderly, but it is important not to lose yourself and becoming the parent.  When we marry, we look for our knight in shining armor.  Sometimes we get caught up in the illusion that we are only Mr. or Mrs. so in so…. What happens if your husband/wife leaves, die or just don’t include you in his/her daily dealings? Do you have any hobbies, interests or aspirations?  If you don’t…you need to get some.  You have to remember to keep your identity and continue to be the Virtuous woman or that Victorious man that God created you to be.  That will take time, prayer and a lot of studying the word.
