Remember to say I Love You Today! It just may be your last time seeing them.

It is a sad day in the music industry.... news is steady flowing in about the sad news that recording artist Vesta Williams died yesterday.  I had to opportunity of working with Vesta in July this year.  She was one of the performers for The City of Riverdale's South City Concert Series along with Tony Terry and The SOS Band.  She was such a joy to work with.  The concert goers really enjoyed hearing her.  I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to book her before her untimely passing.  I remember when I was much younger and just got into the business, I first met Vesta at a Jack the Rapper Music Convention.  I met her along with the late great Phyllis Hyman, Cherrelle and Millie Jackson.  It was at one of the luncheons and I had the pleasure of sitting at the table with those ladies.  That was one of my most memorable moments working in the entertainment industry.  With that being said we have to live in the moment.  We must remember to tell the ones we love - "I love you" and give them a hug.  That just may be the last thing that they remember before they are taken from us.  That just may be the last thing that you remember that you said to that person as well.  If I haven't told you that I love you today... I love you and gave a great day today.

About Vesta Williams

Vesta Williams, the 80's diva known for her powerful voice,  was found dead in her California hotel room last night, according to reports. Though news sources have reported the singer was 48 years old, Williams can be seen in a 2010 interview saying she was 53.  Williams scored a big hit with "Congratulations," a song about a woman who is distraught upon learning that her former lover is getting married. "Congratulations," with its vocal acrobatics and dramatic story, became a talent show staple.  While in Riverdale, she informed the crowd that the television show "Unsung" was doing an episode on her.

We love you Vesta.  My prayers are with you and your family.
